Get rid of the cough, now safely and naturally

EFFECTIVE COUGH SUPPRESSANT

Popular stops cough medicine

More effective than OTC or over the counter drugs and cough suppressants? In fact, it does.

A little honey, taken before bedtime, can facilitate a cough in children. It seems that his grandmother might have been right back.

Researchers at Pennsylvania State University reported that the news based on 130 children with cough.

They were divided into three groups. One has been treated with dextromethorphan, the most common (and often touted as the most efficient) over the counter cough suppressant. Another group was treated with buckwheat honey and the final group was treated with absolutely nothing.

Won the honey.

Not for long, but was just as effective if not more than one medication. I don't know about you, but I'd much rather take a spoonful of honey than a spoonful of drugs and as regards my children go, honey wins hands down. Especially if it is more effective than conventional treatment.

A word of warning here. DO not give honey to children under 1 year of age, since it potentially can cause botulism.

Honey can be taken alone or mixed with lemon juice and/or tea. Darker honey tends to have more antioxidants and pure raw honey, have the greatest anti-microbial effect. Just that someone does not give too much due to the high carb content.

Honey is truly a wonder food. Antimicrobial substances is one of the most efficient and effective. Honey was found preserved in jars of hundreds of years and is still not only edible, but sweet and tasty. Itself simply will not spoil. It has been used to treat wounds and even gangrene for years on various battlefields successfully.

Curanderas, shamans and witch doctors of the world over, not to mention the MOM and grandmothers have recognized attributes of honey for centuries. Only now we are getting to their showing.

You have a cough, try some honey. You've got a real bad cough, try some honey and some capsaicin (the stuff that makes chili peppers hot) in the form of chili powder or chili sauce or tabasco sauce in a tea. Very, very effective. I know, I grew up on it. I preferred the New Mexico Chili Beans myself. Nothing better when mixed with raw honey. In fact, we used to buy honey and pepper already mixed.

The study, funded by the National Honey Board, appears in Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine.
